UPSC Competitive Exams

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) does the process of recruitment of the people for various services and posts under the union. It is done by conducting competitive exams. The notifications of these exams are given in the Employment News. Civil Services (IAS) Exam: The Indian Civil Services bring with them great respect and responsibilities. The competition is very intense for IAS exams. You have to put in lot of efforts such as studying for long hours and be prepared for taking repeated attempts at the civil services exam. Information about these exams and forms are published in the employment news. The job security offered by these jobs is very good as compared to private sector jobs.

Combined Defence Services (C.D.S) Exam: These exams are conducted by the UPSC twice a year. They are utilized for the recruitment into the Air force Academy, Officers Training Academy, and Indian Military Academy. The candidates who are unmarried and graduates are only eligible for this exam. The candidates who are successful in this exam are admitted in the respective academy. This is done after an interview conducted by the Service Selection Board (SSB).

Combined Medical Services (C.M.S.) Exam: These exams are conducted for the recruitment of doctors for the services such as Central Health Services, Ordinance Factories Health Services, and Railways. The candidate applying for this post must possess a MBBS degree. However the candidates who are appearing for the final year exams of MBBS degree can also appear for these examinations. They have to provide the proof of passing the MBBS exams for their appointment.

Engineering Services Exam: These exams are basically conducted for the recruitment of engineers in four different categories. They are Electronics and telecommunication, Civil Engineering, Electrical engineering and Mechanical engineering. The engineers recruited would work towards the development of the society. They are mainly responsible for the planning, execution and administration of the infrastructure.

Geologists Exam: These exams are conducted for recruitment of candidates for the Central Ground Water and Geological Survey of India. Every year, the notifications of these exams are published in the month of June. The examinations are conducted during the month of November.

Information on Engineering Entrance Exams

Engineering Entrance Exams

These exams are conducted all over the country by different engineering institutes. You have to score well in your engineering entrance exams, in order to get admission in Engineering Colleges.

There are plenty of options available for the candidates wishing to appear for engineering entrance exams in the year 2010. Some institutes offer the facility of submitting online application forms. The entrance exams such as AIEE and IIT-JEE are considered as the most competitive entrance exams.

The pattern of examination is the same for most of the engineering entrance exams.
Some entrance exams under the category of engineering entrance exams are described below:

AIEEE

All India Engineering/Pharmacy/Architecture Entrance Examination: This exam is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India. This entrance exam is a national level competitive test for the students who wish to secure admission in different under graduate engineering and architecture courses in the institutes accepting the AIEE score. The students who are opting for B.Tech are tested in mathematics, physics and chemistry.

IIT JEE

Joint Entrance Exams: The Joint entrance examination conducts exams for students to get admission in the undergraduate programs at IIT institutions. These exams are for both Indian and foreign nationals. Apart from getting admissions to IIT’s in India, these entrance exams also helps you to get admission to undergraduate courses in Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad and IT-BHU, Varanasi.

MH-CET

Maharashtra Common entrance Test for Engineering: This exam is conducted by the directorate of Technical education for all health sciences, Pharmacy degree and Engineering courses. These exams are conducted at various centers in Maharashtra. The syllabus for these entrance exams is same as for the current year for HSC examination of the HSC board of Maharashtra.

GATE

Entrance Exam for M. Tech colleges in IIT’s: This Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is conducted in eight zones all over the country. This exam is conducted by the GATE Committee on behalf of the National Coordinating board-GATE, Department of Education, Government of India, and Ministry of Human Resources Development. However the overall coordination and responsibility of conducting GATE 2011 is with Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
