Entrance Exams

One must have come across the term Entrance Exam. Entrance exams mean any kind of test that is taken at different levels to check the efficiency of students in connection to their subject knowledge to let them join the said institute they are writing the exam for.

Entrance exams in India have become a rage now with so many prestigious examinations being conducted every year and giving the students a lucrative chance to make their careers bright.

Some of the important entrance exams in India are IIT-JEE, an engineering entrance exam followed by CAT which is most important amongst MBA entrance exams. Other important entrance exams are PMT, AIEEE, etc.

Let’s see some of the most significant entrance exams in India

IIT-JEE:

IIT-JEE stands for Indian institute of technology joint engineering exam and is organized by the prominent Indian institute of technology every year probably in the month of April-May for admission to its first semester of engineering courses.

Candidates having completed class 12th or waiting for the final year results can also apply. The subjects in the entrance exam include Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Upon success at the engineering entrance exam, the candidates are called for counseling and allotted seats based on their rankings in the entrance exam.

AIEEE:

AIEEE is another key engineering entrance exam in India conducted by CBSE for admission to various engineering colleges in the country. The eligibility criteria and subjects for the entrance exam remains the same just like IIT-JEE.

CAT:

CAT stands for common entrance test and is the most important management entrance examination in India conducted by the eminent Indian institutes of Management each year to provide students having completed their graduation or waiting final results to get admitted in its institutes.

The subjects for the test feature English, Mathematics, General knowledge, Aptitude test, etc.

MAT:

MAT is called as management aptitude test. It is also a management level entrance exam to provide students the platform to enter in to the other A & B level MBA schools in India. The subjects are the same in adherence to the CAT.

Management entrance exams of MAT’s repute are held twice a year.

AIIMS:

AIIMS stands for All India Institutes of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and the same prominent hospital in medical field conducts medical entrance exam in India once in a year and considered as the toughest to crack.

An eligibility criterion remains the same as in engineering entrance exams but subjects include Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

CBSE-PMT:

CBSE-PMT stands for Central Board of Secondary Education- Pre Medical Test conducted by CBSE once a year. Eligibility norms and subjects are same as in AIIMS.

Come 2011 and we would have only one medical entrance exam only devoted for filling of all the 30,000 plus medical seats countrywide.
